About the Studio
A classically trained cellist and pianist, Sam is also an exceptional guitarist, an experienced vocal instructor, and plays many other instruments including mandolin, ukulele, accordion, bass guitar, and electric guitar. He is passionate about teaching music in a way that is approachable, fun, and encouraging. Known as a gifted educator, he excels in building on each student's strengths while gently challenging them to grow. His students especially appreciate his ability to explain music theory in clear, practical, and easy-to-understand ways.
Meet Sam
Sam Johnson is the founder and principal instructor of Doxology Music Academy. He holds a Master's of Music in Church Music from Baylor University and a Master's of Divinity from Truett Seminary. With over twelve years of of experience serving as a worship pastor, he brings deep expertise and a pastor's heart to every student.
Since its inception, Sam has also been actively involved with Worship Lab at Baylor University. He loves equipping and encouraging students of all ages to develop their musical gifts and to use them to bless the church through excellence in worship and ministry.

Sam has a Master's of Music in Church Music from Baylor University and has served at Baylor in a variety of ministry contexts including leading prayer services, contemporary worship services, participating in ensembles, and more. He has played with a variety of Christian artists at Baylor such as David Crowder, Sandra McCracken, Laura Story, Bill Gaither, and more.
Master's of Divinity
Theology
Sam has a Master's of Divinity from Truett Seminary and continues to occasionally lead worship during chapel services at Truett. Sam has served as a Worship Pastor for over 12 years. He deeply values the scriptures and desires to honor God in all that he does. He has a pastor's heart, and loves to minister to and encourage others in their walks with Christ.
